Privacy Policy

Claimko ("we", "our", "the app") is a territory-capturing GPS running game. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is protected. By using Claimko you agree to this policy.

What we collect

Account data: your email address and a hashed password when you sign up, used only for authentication.
Profile data: the username and avatar you choose to display publicly.
Location data: GPS coordinates recorded while a run session is active, including in the background when your screen is off. Location is never collected when no session is running.
Activity data: session distance, duration, pace, elevation gain, territory captured (GPS polygon), run mode (solo / crew / pair), and motion sensor data used for cheat detection.
Social data: the crew or running club you join, ephemeral run-group membership during a paired run, and territory strength contributed by co-runners.
Engagement data: coin balance, streak count, leaderboard position, and in-app feedback you choose to submit.
Device data: basic diagnostics (OS version, app version) collected anonymously to detect crashes.

How we use your data

To record your route, compute the territory polygon, and display it on the map.
To calculate distance, pace, elevation, streaks, coins, and leaderboard rankings.
To attribute territory to your account, crew, or run group depending on the mode you selected.
To detect implausible activity — for example, speeds that exceed running pace — and keep the game fair.
To deliver optional push notifications about your streaks and activity.
To improve the app using aggregated, anonymised usage patterns.

Background location. Claimko requests "Always" location permission because territory is captured continuously during a run, including when your phone is locked or in your pocket. We only record location while you have an active running session open. The moment you end a session, location collection stops. You can revoke location access in your device settings at any time — this will prevent the core territory-tracking feature from working.

Data storage

Your data is stored on Supabase (PostgreSQL infrastructure), which may process data in regions including the United States and the European Union. Session data is also cached locally on your device so the app functions without a network connection during a run. We protect all data in transit using TLS encryption.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers. The following limited exceptions apply:

Supabase — our database and authentication provider, acting as a data processor under our instructions.
Mapbox — map tile requests. Mapbox receives the map viewport center only, not your GPS track.
Legal obligations — if required by a court order or applicable law.

Data retention

We retain your account and run data for as long as your account is active so your territory, streaks, and history remain available to you. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated statistics derived from your runs may be retained indefinitely.

Notifications

Push notifications are optional. If you grant permission, Claimko may send streak reminders or activity summaries. You can turn them off at any time in your device settings or inside the app.

Your rights

Access and download: request a copy of your data by emailing hello.claimko@gmail.com.
Edit: update your username and avatar from the Settings screen.
Delete: permanently delete your account from Settings. All personal data is removed within 30 days.
Revoke location: withdraw location permission anytime in your device settings.
Revoke notifications: disable notifications anytime in your device settings or the app.

Age requirement

Claimko is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, contact us and we will remove it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Significant changes will be communicated via in-app notification and this page will reflect the new date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
